1) Bootcamp owners who energize & inspire will win

I can’t emphasize enough how important it is for you to bring high energy to every bootcamp you teach. But that’s not a new trend, however, your role goes beyond just energizing and even motivating your bootcampers.

What you need to do is get all of your bootcampers to join a Facebook Fanpage set up exclusively for YOUR bootcamps. On that page, you’ll post a powerful quote every morning. You’ll recognize specific bootcampers for their efforts. You’ll provide the social support and inspiration that might be missing from their lives.

2) Bootcamp owners who provide a complete set of tools will win

We all know that bootcamp clients can bust their butts in a workout but if they are eating poorly, they will get minimal results.

So you need to go beyond just providing great workouts and generic nutrition advice.

Bootcamp owners who go the extra mile and provide written meal plans, grocery store tours, shopping lists, and fat loss recipes (something you can provide on your Facebook Fanpage) will be the trainers who have the most clients getting results and giving referrals.

Take 10 minutes today between camps or while driving to your evening workout and make a list of ways that you can help solve the nutrition problems of your bootcamp clients.

3) Themed Bootcamps

Back to marketing…while Steve, Bedros, Chris, and Leanne give amazing tips in their bonus interviews in the TT Bootcamps System, I have thought of some new ideas.

I really think we’re going to see bootcamp owners dominate their area when they move towards niche markets with themed bootcamps.

If you specialize (i.e. holding Mom and baby bootcamps, bridal bootcamps, advanced butt kicking, beginner weight loss, or even “age defiance” bootcamps), you’ll be able to differentiate your bootcamp and provide a better, more powerful experience.

You will also be able to charge more because you are offering SPECIFIC solutions to more UNIQUE problems. Don’t try to be everything to everyone, because then you’ll be competing against everyone else, making your business a commodity.

3 Bootcamp Fitness Trends for 2010

Bootcamp-Fitness-Marketing-TipsI realized, after watching the England vs. USA World Cup game on Saturday afternoon, that everyone loves predictions. It was almost as entertaining to see all the “experts” predict the score of the game than it was to watch the match.

Only one expert got the score right, although it’s no big deal to be wrong…letting in the weakest goal in World Cup history, on the other hand, has serious consequences. Poor old Robert Green.

And while watching the match, I realized it’s not too late to make my own predictions on the most important bootcamp trends for 2010.

But these predictions aren’t just guesses. I don’t expect to be wrong, but I can assure you that failing to pay attention to these predictions will have serious consequences.

So here are the 3 bootcamp trends that I predict will separate the ELITE bootcamp trainers from those who struggle.

1) The trainer with the most interval training variations will win

You simply can’t do long, slow, boring cardio in a bootcamp. First, you already know that isn’t a good use of your time. And second, no bootcamp client will stick around paying you $10-20 per session just to be told to run around a park for 20 minutes.

But since almost every bootcamper is there for fat loss, that means you have to come up with fun, cool, and new ways to do interval training. You can’t rely on just one method.

You can use fun games, obstacle courses, shuttle runs, intervals with equipment, and TT Bootcamp style challenges to replace traditional interval training where you run in a straight line.

The more options you have, the more your clients will get results, love your bootcamps, and refer their friends to join your bootcamp.

2) The trainer with the most exercise weapons will win

I’m not just talking about workout straps, kettlebells, stability balls, power wheels, and bands. Those are all really cool to have, but they cost “the big bucks” (especially if you have a big class) and equipment is always a pain in the butt to carry around.

So the best way to stock your training arsenal with a wide variety of exercise weapons is to know as many bodyweight exercises.

If you don’t know at least 10 different pushup variations, 5 unique ways to do lunges, or 11 different ab exercises (not including crunches, since you want to avoid that movement), but your competition does, then you could find yourself in trouble as bootcampers look for new challenges and variety in your workouts.

I highly recommend you search high and low, on Youtube and in old school bodyweight training books to find as many bodyweight moves as possible to liven up your bootcamps.

3) The trainer with the most marketing tools will win

At the end of the day, you can still have the biggest exercise database and the coolest equipment, but if you don’t have bootcampers than you don’t have a bootcamp!

3 More Holiday Bootcamp Marketing Tips

Winter arrived in Toronto on Wednesday…and its only 2 weeks till Christmas…but you can still be pushing to fill your bootcamps and working on plans to get more campers in 2K10…

So I asked Pat Rigsby, bootcamp-filling guru, for his best advices on what you can do right now…

Tip #1 – Reward your current members.

Send a personal card to all of your campers and consider adding a $20 gift card to Starbucks or something similar. While some
businesses will send cards, few if any will actually give ‘real’ gifts.giftcard

You’ll stand out from the crowd this holiday season and it will lead to referral word of mouth around holiday parties so that you’ll have more people calling to enroll in your camps.

Tip #2 – Get your MIA campers back on the scene.

Design a reactivation campaign to get all of your former campers and clients back on board for January. They’re going to go somewhere to try to reach their fitness goals in January – make sure it’s your camp.

Tip #2 – Give Your Current Campers Plastic Gift Cards

If you’ve read the interview I did with Steve, you know he loves giving out plastic gift cards to clients.

So give each of your bootcampers a $20 gift card to Starbucks (for them) along with five $100 plastic bootcamp gift cards to give to

Each bootcamp gift card is worth $100 of bootcamp, and that will be another way to get new clients hooked on your workouts…and it makes your current campers look awesome for giving out that cool gift.

Tip #3 – Reward Your Current Members…

…by getting a free service from the local tanning salon, spa, chiropractor, and nail salon, and combine them into one big certificate and gift it to your clients.

Okay, those are great…but we’re not done yet…here are MORE TIPS from Bedros on how to prepare for the January rush…

Tip #1 – Offer free Saturday boot camps every Saturday in January for the entire community. This has worked awesome for California fitness expert, Josh Carter.

How to Get More Bootcamp Clients

Been getting a lot of emails from bootcamp trainers recently who are loving
the TT Bootcamps workouts but still want more clients to take their
bootcamps to the next level…

So I asked bootcamp marketing guru Chris McCombs for ideas, and here’s what
he gave me:

1) Talk to EVERYONE

Wherever you go in your local area, just start talking to people.

Don’t come across as salesy or pushy, but just start the conversation going
and SOMEHOW turn it around to your boot camps… like start telling a funny
story of something that happened at your boot camp last night… whatever it
is, just turn the conversation towards your boot camps, and it they’re
interested they’ll ask more it.

2) Set Up Simple Facebook Ads

Facebook ads are a GREAT way to get clients.. just make sure to target your
ads as deep as possible.

So if you serve 7 different cites, create a separate targeted ad for each
one and the put the name of the city in each ad… and target your
demographics as deep as possible as well…

If your biggest audience is 25- 45 single females, then that’s who you
should target in your ads.

Again, simple and natural.

But that meant I couldn’t make it to the “Bootcamp Bootcamp” in
Louisville, Kentucky on the weekend.

So I had my good buddy, Pat Rigsby, give us three of the best darn

3 Killer Tips From Bootcamp Bootcamp – By Pat Rigsby

We just wrapped up an incredible weekend with about 100 of the top
Fitness Bootcamp owners in the world at the first ever Bootcamp
Bootcamp.

We covered everything from the Top 5 Lead Generation Strategies for
Bootcamps to ways camp owners can maximize results for their members
using tools like bands, kettlebells and the TRX.

There had to be over 100 tips, tricks and strategies shared that
could propel a new camp to the six-figure mark in a hurry, but
sharing all 100 would make for a pretty long post – so here are my
top 3.

#1 – Pick two lead generation strategies and become epic at them.

Most mediocre business owners dabble in a bunch of things instead
of really committing to anything. Don’t be one of them.

Pick two high ROI lead generation strategies like public speaking
or power networking – and work them relentlessly.

You’ll get into a rhythm, be able to test and tweak and more than
anything else – you’ll get better and more confident at them.

So spend the next 90 days focusing on your top two lead generation
strategies and watch you business explode.

#2 – Don’t spend all your time chasing new people.

It’s often been said that it costs 10X as much to acquire a new
client as it does to re-sell and existing one.

Then why do most bootcamp owners spend all their ‘business growth
time’ chasing new prospects?

I can’t answer that – but I can tell you it’s a mistake.

Start spending more of your time focusing on internal marketing and
less on external marketing and your business will grow twice as
fast.

Instead of only offering one month of camp at a time, start selling
3 or 6 month memberships – or at least putting people on
auto-renweing memberships.

If you can get people to stay with you for 6 months instead of
four, spend $249 a month with you instead of $199 through upselling
them on Nutritional Coaching programs or supplements and get them
to refer someone here and there – your income will multiply right
before your eyes.

#3 – Great marketing is no substitute for a great camp.

I don’t care how good your marketing is, if you’re not delivering
great workouts with tons of energy – your camp will never become a
destination and you’ll forever be chasing new campers.

You have to create an atmosphere that campers love and can’t stop
raving about.

Greet them by name, provide better workouts, add music to the
workouts and create a competitive environment with Transformation

If you want your campers to stay longer and refer often – you have
to make your camp more than a workout – it has to be an experience.

2 Bootcamp Challenges for You

Just finishing up 7 days here in Europe…did 3 days in Paris, 2 in
Amsterdam, and today we were in Brussels.

All the while filming TT workout videos and having fun.

But today while walking down one of the main shopping streets here
in Brussels I stumbled across a gym offering Cardio Bootcamp
Workouts.

That’s right, bootcamps have hit Europe.

They are everywhere, and they are radically changing the fitness
industry…so you must keep pushing to get ahead and the lead the
way in your city…or else!

And bootcamps aren’t just for big cities like New York and Los
Angeles (and Brussels?)…

In fact, I did two interviews last week with small town, big money
bootcamp owners Donovan Owens and Ben Warstler, about how they have

it brings me.) So make that list and attack it tomorrow.

work with to cross-promote your services and theirs. From restaurants
to hotels to yoga studios, there are dozens of business that you can
work with…even in a small town.

Here’s bootcamp marketing expert Steve Hochman’s world famous “human billboard marketing tip”…

The first thing I’m gonna talk about is my now world-famous human billboard marketing system.

Now, the human billboard marketing system works off of the law of reciprocity, where you do something nice for someone and they feel compelled to do something for you.

And it goes a little bit farther than that, but here’s how it works.  You’re gonna get 21 people that they’re gonna be your human billboards.

In other words, they’re gonna barter your Boot Camp services, and in exchange for getting free Boot Camp, they are gonna sign a contract that they will agree to refer one paying client per month.  All right?

So, they get free Boot Camp services.

But they’re gonna get YOU one free client per month.

And I’m gonna tell you about some really innovative tools you’re gonna give your human billboards to make it easier than heck for them to refer you tons of clients.

Now, let me show you how significant this is, and how you could go from zero to a six-figure income in 60 days with the human billboard marketing system.

If you take 21 human billboards and you times that by $199.00 per month, which is what I charge for my Boot Camps for a year contract on auto debit.  So, it’s $199.00 a month times 21 human billboards.

So, if each person refers you just 1 client, in 30 days, you’re gonna have 21 paying clients.

Fitness Bootcamp Marketing : Do You Make This HUGE Mistake With Your Fitness Bootcamp Workouts?

I spent an entire weekend with bootcamp gurus Steve Hochman, Chris McCombs, and and Bedros Keuilian…

But in the meantime, let’s talk about 2nd biggest mistake in most bootcamp workouts that drives me freaking insane.

I saw a perfectly terrible example of it this morning.

As you might know, I walk my puppy, Bally the Dog, every morning here in Toronto, and five times per week we walk by a bootcamp class.

And every single day these trainers are doing something wrong.

Today, the big mistake was letting the class do the exercises with bad form.

Back when I was training 8-12 clients per day, I would get SEETHING mad watching other trainers put their clients through exercises while allowing bad form.

I bet my BP went to 220/160 watching that crap.

So negligent, and so ignorant.

Don’t you agree that this is irresponsible?

Teaching someone to do an exercise is NOT hard!

I just don’t understand why trainers allow bad form. So what if you are training 10-20 people at the same time, there’s no reason to allow it.

I know you’re sitting there nodding your head and agreeing with me.

I bet you see bad form all the time and it probably makes you mad too.

So let’s agree to do something about it. Let’s agree to commit to stressing proper form in our classes…after all, that will give our clients BETTER results!

Fitness Marketing : Marketing Your Fitness Bootcamps With Facebook!

Twitter this. Facebook that. It seems like everyone is talking about Facebook and Twitter these days. The problem is that you have Facebook and Twitter accounts and only seem to waste time talking to old high school friends. So are these “social media” sites useless or are they really a good way to build your fitness business?

The good news is that Facebook and Twitter are proven ways to build fitness bootcamps, market your gym, and even sell more fitness ebooks and DVD’s. My research has shown that Twitter is better for selling e-books while Facebook is better for getting clients to bootcamps, gyms, and personal training. So let’s look at Facebook first.

The most popular way to use Facebook is to set up a personal profile and become friends with everyone you’ve ever known. But when using Facebook for professional reasons, you need to be picky about who you friend.

Focus on building a network of quality Facebook friends, as this can be even more powerful than building an email list, because with Facebook, you can learn much more demographic information about your friends (birthdays, age, interests, etc.).

The real power of Facebook is found in what is called, “the news feed”. Every activity and action you take inside of Facebook is relayed to everyone in your network (i.e. your friends) and this can spread virally.

The best way to use the power of the news feed is to share video and photos of your bootcamps and personal training facility. This will alert all of your Facebook friends, and if one of them watches your video, it will alert all of their friends that they are watching your video. That’s how your video can spread between networks and will attract high quality connections back to you.

You can also get high quality friends by creating a Facebook group. For example, if you live in Fargo, North Dakota, you might start a Fargo Fitness group, and invite everyone in Fargo who lists “fitness” as one of their interests to join. This is a great way to build quality friends and you can then have a conversation about fitness with those people, and eventually turn them to the topic of your training.

Each day you should add up to 20 new friends, focusing on high quality friends. You could even outsource the “friending” of people to an assistant. For everyone that signs up for your group, your assistant could go through their friend list and “add/friend” everyone from their list.

However, always focus on building relationships first, and don’t be too heavy-handed with your marketing or always asking people to buy or signup for training or bootcamps. Instead, just be friends and become a trusted expert in the area of fitness to your Facebook network. Once folks trust you, they will be happy and eager to pay for your services.

Finally, you can also use Facebook is to start a Fan Page.
